According to NYPost.com, Desperate Housewives star, Felicity Huffman is an acting drill sergeant. One of her acting class recruits was Jessica Alba who is now out of bootcamp and blabbing about her teacher:

“Felicity was very hard on me. She’s a tough cookie, that one.” Alba told Boston TV reporter Tim Estiloz on the set of Rise of the Silver Surfer. Alba took a six-week, six-hours-a-day intensive acting course with Huffman and her hubby, Wild Hogs star William H. Macy. “I just remember her making me cry because I didn’t prepare a scene right, or I didn’t talk loud enough,” Alba recalled.

Felicity Huffman turns author with A Practical Handbook for the Boyfriend. USA TODAY’s Deirdre Donahue talked to the Desperate Housewives star about the book, which offers guys tips on everything from dating to male underwear.

1. You co-wrote the book with producer Patricia Wolff. How did that happen?
“We’ve been best friends for 20 years, and we’ve always had these big conversations that revolve around men. When you have children, you stop seeing your girlfriends as much, so this project was great.”

2. Writing which chapters cracked you two up the most?
” ‘Sex’ and ‘All Women are Crazy.’ ”

3. The handbook describes some really bad male behavior. Fact or fiction?
“Every example we used is true but the names have been changed to protect the innocent. We both included ex-boyfriend horror stories.”

4. You’re married to actor William H. Macy. Did he ask you to take stuff out?
“Yes! He thought some of the sexual overtones were too shocking.”

5. Stephen Colbert refers to you and your husband as “Filliam H. Muffman.” Are you going to go on his show to promote your book?
“I love Stephen Colbert, but I’m scared to go near him.”

“Desperate Housewives” actress Felicity Huffman has signed up to star in the big screen adaptation of “A Politician’s Wife.”

Unsurprisingly, Felicity - who plays Lynette Scavo in the hit TV series - is to play the spouse of a leading politician in the film which is based on the award-winning ’90s British TV series of the same name.

A source told Britain’s Mail On Sunday newspaper, “The sexual shenanigans, which happened at Whitehall were brilliantly depicted in the British version and filmmakers are keen to replicate this in the U.S. The White House is a hotbed for sexual intrigue and Felicity will be perfect as the tortured but ultimately triumphant politician’s wife.”

The Channel 4 TV series - which starred Juliet Stevenson and Trevor Eve - focused on the story of a woman who discovers that her husband, a member of the British Parliament, is having an affair with a former prostitute.

The movie version is expected to hit screens in 2008.

Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman is no stranger to the awards circuit with an Emmy, an Obie, a Golden Globe, an Independent Spirit Award, and two Screen Actors Guild awards on her mantle…not to mention countless nods including an Academy Award nomination for Transamerica.

A true modern mom to two young girls (Sofia, 6, and Georgia, 4), the actress, author and entrepreneur tells us about the one award that she never expected.

Lolita: What’s your definition of a Modern Mom?

Felicity: I’ll start with my definition of an old-fashioned mom: a mom who puts the needs of everyone else above hers to her own detriment. A modern mom respects herself and honors her needs on par with those of her family.

Lolita: What’s your secret to balancing career and family?

Felicity: Honestly, I don’t have one. I rush from one thing to another and have a lot of guilt…I’m still striving to find that balance. But, I will say that having great, reliable childcare is essential and I’m thankful that I can have caregivers who have been with us since our girls were born. For any mom, solid childcare — whether it’s a babysitter, a relative, or daycare — makes all the difference. And, my husband, Bill, is amazing too…he travels a lot for work, but when he’s here, he’s HERE.

Lolita: What did your parents teach you about parenting?

Felicity: My mom raised me and gave me the gift of fun and pleasure. She showed me how to enjoy every moment. Another great gift was that she didn’t make motherhood out to be the best thing in the world…she was honest about how tough it can be. I can always call her and say, “It’s so hard!” and not feel bad about it.
