Reason Marcia Named Daughter Savannah     ·    Sunday, May 6th, 2007

Marcia Cross was destined to call one of her twins Savannah - because the name came to her when she first tried to get pregnant years ago. The 45-year-old, who gave birth to twins Savannah and Eden in February, forgot all about the name until her husband Tom Mahoney randomly hailed it as a possibility after she became pregnant. She says, “Years ago, I tried to get pregnant by myself and it didn’t work out. While I was in the process of this I had this spiritual experience where it felt like someone said you’re going to have a baby named Savannah. “I didn’t get pregnant and I remember thinking, ‘What a weird name, do I even like it?’ I forgot all about it. “Then we found out I was pregnant - we didn’t know we were having girls at this point - and I got an email from my husband and it said, ‘I just heard a name I like - Savannah.’”

Ten weeks after giving birth to twins, Marcia Cross makes a stylish excursion to Barney’s New York in NYC on Thursday. Later, she stopped by The Late Show with David Letterman, where she raved about twin daughters Eden and Savannah.

Marcia Doesn’t Want To Be A Role Model for Old Moms     ·    Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

Marcia Cross doesn’t want to become a role model for older mothers because she insists she was “really irresponsible” having twins in her 40s. The actress conceived her babies last year through in vitro fertilization and gave birth in February, 2007 - but she doesn’t want her pregnancy to be used as an example for women who want to start a family in their 40s.

She tells US news show Extra, “What I didn’t want to do was put out the myth that you can be in your 40s and just pop out kids. I just don’t want to do that. “Have your babies younger if you can, which I would have done, but I just didn’t find my husband until later.” Cross insists no one should start a family without taking all matters into consideration. She adds, “It’s terribly expensive… It’s a drain on couples financially. It’s emotionally challenging. There’s nothing easy about it. It’s hard. The end result is the joy, but it’s definitely a hard road.”

Marcia Promises No More Pregnancies     ·    Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

Marcia Cross has promised Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry she won’t get pregnant again after creating chaos on the set.

Cherry, who is also the show’s executive producer, was forced to turn the actress’ real-life home into a set when she was put on bed rest by doctors at the beginning of the year.

She says, “I promised him I wouldn’t (get pregnant), but you never know if there’s an adoption in the future.”

Cross filmed until she was too tired to work anymore. She gave birth to twins in February.

Crow will mark her return to the small screen in the “Desperate Housewives” season finale, and, ironically, she reveals, “All I will say is it’s got something to do with pregnancy!”

Family Time for Marcia, hubby and twins     ·    Monday, April 30th, 2007

Family Time for Marcia, hubby and twins

Clearly still floating on air after welcoming twins Eden and Savannah two months ago, glamorous new mum Marcia Cross takes a stroll in Santa Monica, California. The happy family scene was captured at the weekend as the Desperate Housewife took her girls out for a breath of fresh air.

Marcia seemed to be making light work of motherhood with some help from her favourite guy, husband Tom Mahoney. The couple - who married just under a year ago after meeting in a flower shop - tenderly fussed over their daughters, whom they were carrying in similar papooses, shielded from the sun with blankets.

Two weeks ago Marcia talked of her joy at joining the mummy “club” at the relatively late age of 44 thanks to a course of IVF. “I’m in heaven right now,” she said.

Marcia Cross and her hubby Tom Mahoney were spotted going for a stroll with their twin girls in LA recently. They look so happy!

Marcia initially terrified of the prospect of twins     ·    Friday, April 20th, 2007

Marcia initially terrified of the prospect of twinsMarcia Cross has revealed she was terrified when she first found out she was pregnant with twins.

Twin girls Eden and Savannah were born at an LA-area hospital in February after the Desperate Housewives star and her husband Tom Mahoney underwent fertility treatment shortly after their wedding last year.

Speaking in an interview with Hello magazine, Marcia said recently that she was shocked - and not in a good way - when her doctor told her that she was having two babies: “I was absolutely terrified! Now if course, it’s just like I won the lottery because I have two daughters and it’s really just fantastic.”

But she was quick to point out that not all older mums using IVF will be as lucky as her: “Many women delay motherhood these days. I feel very fortunate to have become a mother in my 40s.”

“That’s why I don’t want to put out any fantasy that you can just do that forever and then just pop out twins.”

Motherhood is like heaven for Marcia     ·    Thursday, April 12th, 2007

Motherhood is like heaven for Marcia

Desperate Housewives‘ star Marcia Cross is revelling in her new status of mom to twin baby girls.

The 45-year old actress, who gave birth to Eden and Savannah, on Feb 20 this year, opened up for the first time about motherhood, and admits that it is better than she ever imagined it to be.

“I wanted to be a member of that club so badly, and now I’m in and it’s so much better than I even imagined,” People magazine quoted her, as saying.

However, it hasn’t been an easy ride for Cross and husband Tom Mahoney, for the couple wasn’t even sure whether they would be able to conceive.

“We did in vitro a week after we got married. We were supposed to go to Greece and Paris and have this fancy honeymoon, and I said, ‘Let’s stay put and see if we can’t give this baby a chance,’ ” Cross revealed.

They got a real scare four weeks away from Cross’ March 21 due date when the actress was diagnosed with preeclampsia, a disorder characterized by dangerously high blood pressure that threatens both mother and baby.

Doctors then decided to deliver the babies via caesarean section.

But, the trouble and worry was certainly worth it, for the actress insists that nothing except heaven compares to the love she feels for her daughters.

“I’m in heaven right now,” she said.

Marcia Talks About Motherhood     ·    Thursday, April 12th, 2007

Marcia Cross, who recently gave birth to twins, is proud to be a member of the Mom Club.

“I wanted to be a member of that club so badly, and now I’m in and it’s so much better than I even imagined,” says the 45-year-old actress, who plays Bree on ABC’s “Desperate Housewives.”

“Even before I was 30, I started thinking about (motherhood),” Cross tells People magazine in its April 23 issue, on newsstands Friday. “The years started going by and I was anxious about the clock ticking. Now, it seems like it was all meant to be.”

Cross gave birth to daughters Eden and Savannah in February - one month before her March 21 due date - hours after being diagnosed with preeclampsia, a disorder characterized by high blood pressure that threatens both mother and baby, according to the magazine.

“Savannah was born first and then Eden followed within the same minute,” says Cross’ stockbroker husband, Tom Mahoney, who held the actress’ hand while she underwent a C-section. “Then we had a symphony of crying and it was fantastic.”

Cross appears with the twins on the cover of magazine, with more photos inside.

The couple, who wed last June, began dating in 2004 after Cross spotted Mahoney, 49, at a flower store in Los Angeles and left her number with the shopkeeper.

“We did in vitro a week after we got married,” she tells the magazine. “We were supposed to go to Greece and Paris and have this fancy honeymoon, and I said, ‘Let’s stay put and see if we can’t give this baby a chance.’ ”
