Hatcher Throws Longoria Second Bridal Shower     ·    Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

Eva Longoria, Teri HatcherOn Monday evening, the Eva Longoria’s Desperate Housewives co-star, Teri Hatcher, threw a girls-only wedding party at her home Monday night – just one day after Felicity Huffman and Longoria’s best friend Brittany Olson hosted a coed bash.

The 30 guests, all cast and crew from the hit ABC show, included Huffman and Hatcher’s TV daughter, Andrea Bowen. They were treated to Moet champagne, finger foods, and fun, a guest tells People mag.

At the door, guests were each given a garter, which they had to forfeit if they were caught using the words “Tony,” “Paris” or “dress” during the evening. (Longoria is marrying Tony Parker on July 7 in Paris.) At the end of the night, the guest with the most garters won. The winner was somebody accustomed to watching what she says: the show’s publicity coordinator Joslyn Paul.

But even the losers didn’t go home empty-handed. Each guest got a gift of a Swarovski crystal candle-holder.

At Sunday’s shower at Huffman’s house, guests competed to make the most elegant wedding gown – out of toilet paper – and the prize went to Hatcher.

“It was such a special day!” Longoria tells People Magazine. “Felicity and my maid of honor, Brittany Olson, went above and beyond to make the whole afternoon beautiful and memorable. I can’t thank them enough. I’m extremely blessed to be surrounded by my family, friends and co-workers and to have had them all together to celebrate this special moment in my life.”

Hatcher Thinks She is Too Old To Act     ·    Monday, April 2nd, 2007

Most actresses are dying for a role as big as Teri Hatcher’s character in ‘Desperate Housewives’. Teri, on the other hand, is slowing down and eventually hopes to work behind the scenes because she’s getting “too old to act”.

The ‘Desperate Housewives’ star has just sold a new TV show to a network and is planning to grow old gracefully “behind the camera.”

Teri told Easy Living magazine, “I’ve just sold my first TV show to a network. It’s a comedy and it may never make it to air but it’s exciting to be behind the camera. I’m writing a book too! I’m trying to build a business that will allow me not to be in front of the camera, because, you know, I’m old!”

The 42-year-old, who plays Susan Mayer on the hit TV show, recently admitted she was struggling to strike a balance between work, love and caring for her eight-year-old daughter Emerson Rose, according to AHN.

She said, “I’ll work a 14-hour day, four days in a row and feel like I’ve been run over. But I don’t call it tired, I call it, ‘Nothing is right, and I’m no good at my job and I’m horrible and no one will ever love me.’ This is a serial problem for mothers. We’re trying to be everything all the time. The best mom, the best worker, the best wife or the best dater. And it’s too much.”

How quickly the actress plans to leave the acting profession is unknown, but don’t be surprised if an “unfortunate accident” knocks off her character sometime in the near future.

Teri @ 6th Annual Comedy For A Cure     ·    Monday, April 2nd, 2007

Teri @ 6th Annual Comedy For A Cure

As the host of a special charity comedy event on April Fool’s Day, it was perhaps unsurprising to see Teri Hatcher enjoying some laughs at the LA event. But the Desperate Housewives star’s beaming grin seemed to be due as much to the company as the comedy.

The man putting a big smile on the 42-year-old’s face is her film-director boyfriend Stephen Kay who arrived hand-in-hand with her at the annual Comedy For A Cure fundraiser. An item since last November, the loved-up couple couldn’t hide their happiness as they laughed and joked together before Sunday night’s show.

Mum-of-one Teri, who was previously married to personal trainer Marcus Leithold and actor John Tenning, has publically told of her feelings for Stephen. “I’m totally in love and it’s fabulous,” she said at the Golden Globes in January. “I will just say that he’s the most beautiful human being on the planet.”

And Teri’s co-stars are said to be thrilled for their friend. But although fellow Housewives Nicollette Sheridan and Eva Longoria - who herself briefly dated Stephen in 2005 - are preparing to walk down the aisle, Teri has brushed aside talk of marriage. “Oh please,” she laughs. “I’m just happy to be happy. I’m always the last one!”

Teri Hatcher: Being a Mom is My Priority     ·    Monday, March 5th, 2007

Teri Hatcher: Being a Mom is My PriorityTeri Hatcher isn’t racing to fill up her hiatus from filming Desperate Housewives with a movie role – because she’d rather be home with her 9-year-old daughter, Emerson.

“I’m really clear about my priority in my life – it’s being a mom. I have enough difficult balancing doing the show for ten and a half months with being a mom the way I want to be,” Hatcher tells the UK’s Easy Living magazine.

Hatcher says when her daughter was younger she took five years off because she wanted to be at home. And now, “I still want to be at home,” she says. “I want to be doing homework, I want to be making dinner.”

But Hatcher, 42, says she realizes she faces the same hurdles as other working moms. “I think that’s a fairly common struggle for women – our guilt about motherhood and our lack of ability to participate and having to feel like we’ve got to work.”

As for a potential career on the big screen, she says, “I love doing films, and I’d like to do that, but I wouldn’t like to do it more than I’d like to be my daughter’s mother.”

But that doesn’t mean she’s only acting. “I’m producing and writing and doing things that I think fit in to my mother schedule in a way that can complement Desperate Housewives.”

She’s also doing lots of baking and cooking, she says. “I threw an enormous Halloween party last year; I built a huge maze with corn and hay, and cooked jambalaya. That’s what I should do; I should be a party planner.”

Hatcher Stunned After Seeing President Patting Her Bum     ·    Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

Teri Hatcher was shocked during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Friday, when she was shown a videotape of former US President George Bush patting her on the behind.

The Desperate Housewives star had lunch with Bush in Los Angeles recently and had no idea why media reports were making such a big deal out of a friendly lunch.

When the talk show host asked her about their relationship she joked, “That’s my other boyfriend. We were having lunch talking about a charity thing that I’m involved in with him and Mrs Bush.

“When we left the place, one of the things we had been talking about at lunch was that I got this new Mercedes. So when we left, he wanted to see my car, so he walked me to my car.

“Somebody caught some video, I haven’t seen it.”

When Leno insisted that the former president “patted her on the a**” Hatcher said adamantly, “I don’t think that’s true. You would think if the president patted you anywhere you would know. I don’t recall the president patting me.”

Leno then played the footage, which showed Bush patting Hatcher on the behind twice while telling her goodbye.

A stunned Hatcher squealed after watching the tape, “Now I see what everybody’s been talking about!”

Hatcher Explains Presidential Pal     ·    Thursday, February 15th, 2007

Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher has spoken out about her unlikely friendship with former US president George Bush, boasting she’s even stayed at the statesman’s Maine home.

Photos of the actress giving Bush a kiss on the cheek were splashed over newspapers around the globe last week, arousing huge curiosity.

But Hatcher explains she’s been pals with the ex-president for years after voicing support for a number of his humanitarian campaigns.

She says, “He’s wonderful to my family. I hope to be involved in many of his charities.”

Teri Hatcher Struggles With Punishing Schedule     ·    Thursday, February 15th, 2007

Desperate Housewife Teri Hatcher is struggling with the punishing schedule of the hit show, insisting it’s hard to juggle time to be both a great mother and a TV star.

The actress has nine-year-old daughter Emerson and is currently dating boyfriend Stephen Kay, but admits trying to please everyone is leaving her feeling under pressure.

She moans, “I’ll work a 14-hour day, four days in a row and feel like I’ve been run over. But I don’t call it tired, I call it, ‘Nothing is right, and I’m no good at my job and I’m horrible and no one will ever love me.’

“This is a serial problem for mums. We’re trying to be everything all the time. The best mum, the best worker, the best wife, or the best dater. And it’s too much.”
